Itinerary 5 Days Desert tour from Ouarzazate to Marrakech

Day 1: Ouarzazate – Kasbah Ameridil – Valley of Roses – Boumalne Dades – Dades Gorges – Tinghir City

      Our driver will pick you up from your accommodation and take you to the Dades and Todra Gorges, passing through the oasis of Skoura where we will stop to visit the Kasbah of Ameridil. After breakfast, we will begin our 5-day journey from Ouarzazate to Marrakech through the Sahara Desert.
Next, we will drive along the road of a thousand Kasbahs to reach the Valley of Roses. Then we will continue to the Dades Valley and the magnificent canyon of the Dades Gorges, stopping along the way to admire the breathtaking scenery and have lunch on our own. Our first day in Tinghir City will end in the evening with dinner and lodging in a hotel or riad.

Day 2: Todra Gorges – Tinjdad – Erfoud – Rissani – Erg-Chebbi Sand Dunes of Merzouga

      After the usual Moroccan breakfast, we will begin the tour of the four valleys-Tinghir and Merzouga-and the desert. We will reach the Todra Gorges in Tinghir, known for their orange cliffs overlooking the sea. Climbers love this area for its nearly 1,000-meter-deep canyons. Then, admire the verdant vistas of the Todra Valley, dotted with almond and palm trees.
Next, we will pass through the Ziz Valley, the oasis of the Tafilalet region located in the town of Errachidia and numerous Berber towns, including Tinjdad, Errachidia, Aoufous and Erfoud, to reach the Sahara Desert. En route, you will have time for lunch. In the afternoon we will reach the enchanting sand dunes of Merzouga, where we will stay overnight in a hotel or riad and have dinner.

Day 3: Desert Tour – Merzouga Lake – Khamliya – Nomad Family – Camel trekking & Overnight in desert camp.

    After breakfast we will begin our tour among the sand dunes of Erg-Chebbi. We will visit a number of fascinating places nearby, such as the occasionally dry Lake Merzouga, home to a variety of birds, including flamingos and ducks, which migrate there to nest, especially in spring.
After listening to African (Gnawa) music performed by musicians originally from black Africa in the village of Khamlia, we will continue our 4WD tour in the black desert located behind the Erg-Chebbi sand dunes. We will visit a nomadic Berber family to witness their way of life, after visiting an abandoned village where mineral fossils are being processed.
We will return to Khamlia for a delicious lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon you will begin your camel trekking adventure and reach the desert camp crossing beautiful orange sand dunes. You will experience wonderful moments in the middle of the dunes, admiring a breathtaking sunset in a truly extraordinary place that feeds your soul.
There will be music, dinner and overnight stay will be spent in the camp, and you can play on the sand dunes under a billion stars.

Day 4: Merzouga – Rissani City – Alnif – N’kob – Tazarine – Agdez – Ouarzazate.

    Today you will wake up early and climb the sand dunes to watch the beautiful sunrise. After breakfast and a shower, you will return to the town of Merzouga by camel. From Merzouga to Ouarzazate, passing through Rissani (Tafilalt), where you will stroll through the region’s best-known traditional market and admire handicrafts and local art. It is best to go to Rissani on one of the days listed below: Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday. The souk is open on these three days, ideal for those who want to shop in the desert. We continue the journey stopping for lunch in N’kob, Tazarine and Alinf.
In the afternoon we will take a drive through the picturesque Draa Valley, lined with palm groves, ancient Kasbahs and Berber villages. We will continue our tour to Ouarzazate, passing through Agdez and over the Anti-Atlas Mountains (1660 m). We will arrive in Ouarzazate in the evening, have dinner and stay overnight in a hotel or raid. 

Day 5: Ouarzazate – Atlas Studios – Ait Benhaddou Kasbah – Ounila Valley – Telouet Kasbah – High Atlas – Marrakech.

     After breakfast, on the last day of our five-day journey across the Sahara Desert from Ouarzazate to Marrakech, we will visit the famous Atlas Studios, an iconic film studio located in Ouarzazate. We continue to the historic Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou.
In the 17th century, this fortified town was a bustling trading center, located directly on the caravan route that connected Marrakech to the Sahara. Inside the high mud walls are six kasbahs and some dwellings.
Ait Benhaddou has been featured in numerous films, such as Lawrence of Arabia and The Gladiator. Next, we will head toward the city of Marrakech through the breathtaking Ounila valley, passing through Berber villages to arrive at the village of Telouet. There we will explore the Kasbah of Telouet, built for the wealthy El Glaoui family in the 18th and 19th centuries and a unique sight to behold.
The Kasbah, adorned with vivid mosaics and crimson stucco, was strategically positioned along the caravan route.
Take a break for lunch at a nearby restaurant. Then continue through the Atlas passes, stopping along the way to admire the breathtaking views of the Tizi N’tichka pass (2260 meters) and the Atlas Mountains.
We will arrive in Marrakech, also known as the “red city,” in the afternoon, drop you off at your accommodation and conclude our services.
