Discover Morocco’s fascinating southern region on this 6-day tour through the desert, departing from Fes and arriving in Marrakech. The trip to the “Great Hidden South” offers an excellent opportunity to get up close and personal with the area’s breathtaking landscapes, historic kasbahs, and charming villages.
We will also have time to explore the village of the dark-skinned Khamlia people, who will show us their African rhythms, and visit the film museum where hits such as “Gladiator” were filmed. In addition, we will tour Erg Chebbi, where we will encounter nomadic villages and travel several tracks in 4x4s.

Itinerary: 6 Days Desert Tour from Fes to Marrakech and Merzouga desert

Day 1: Fez - Ifrane - Azrou Forest - Midelt - Merzouga Desert

We will start your ascent through the Middle Atlas mountains once you have finished your breakfast. You’ll spend the most of the day meandering through Berber villages that cross the Atlas Mountains and start to descend into the Sahara Desert, as well as gorgeous forests and crumbling rock walls. You will pause for lunch in the city of Midelt, which is well-known for its rocks and fossils, halfway through. After the journey, taking a hot shower or, depending on the weather, a swim in the pool at the Merzouga Kasbah will be enjoyable. night at the hotel / Riad.

Day 2: Merzouga Sightseeing.

Here, in Erg Chebbi’s Sahara desert, we set out at 11:00 or earlier and travel along a path that winds through the sand dunes. While traversing these breathtaking vistas, we’ll come across a lot of roving black businesses in remote areas. We’re going to have tea with a nomadic family to get a glimpse of what a life free of addiction is like. We proceed with our journey and stop in Khamliya, a city that has remained unchanged for centuries, to learn about the nomadic lifestyle of the Berber people.

We either have lunch in the village of Khamliya or return to our hotel there. Following a nap, we ride a camel to discover one of the most amazing locations we have ever seen: the stunning sunset in the middle of Merzouga’s tall sand dunes (Erg Chebbi). We stayed at the Berber camp tonight and had a fantastic view of the stars.

Day 3: Merzouga - Draa Valley - Agdz - Ouarzazate.

You will wake up early to see the beautiful sunrise on the dunes then you will take breakfast, with camels, or a 4×4 car. Proceed to Ouarzazate via Rissani, stopping to explore its traditional souk, which is regarded as the biggest in the southern region of Morocco. We will next travel to the stunning Draa Valley, which is home to millions of palm trees. Accommodations and an evening arrival in Ouarzazate.

Day 4: Ouarzazate - Marrakech.

Depart for Ait Ben Haddou after breakfast to visit a kasbah where several movies, including “Lawrence of Arabia” and “Babel”, are shown. When the day was over, we reached Marrakech.

Day 5: Marrakech Sightseeing.

We will travel through the Black Desert (Hamada) after breakfast to arrive at the fossil city of Erfoud and Rissani. There, we will tour a fossil laboratory and then explore the valley of Todra, a popular climbing destination. We hike there before heading to the hotel for dinner and the night

Day 6: Marrakech Airport.

You will be transferred to the airport based on the time of your departure.
