Itinerary: 4 Days Desert Tour from Marrakech To Merzouga Desert

Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Ben haddou – Dades valley

At 8 am, Merzouga Morocco Tours will pick you up from your hotel or riad. Morocco’s highest pass, Tizi n’Tichka (2260 m), was built by the Foreign Legion and is our route to the Dadès Gorges. The route climbs through verdant terrain with spectacular views of the High Atlas Mountains before winding through Berber settlements with their ramshackle earthen houses.
After the pass, the terrain becomes more rugged in the direction of the breathtaking kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, or in this case, Ksar (fortified town). Currently recognized as a World Heritage Site, it is one of the best and most intact examples of land architecture in Morocco and has been the backdrop for numerous epic films, including Lawrence of Arabia and Alexander.
Next, we will travel to Ouarzazate, known as “the Hollywood of Africa” and home to Atlas Studios. Here we will have lunch next to the Kasbah of Taourirt, an imposing castle with more than 300 rooms that once belonged to the fierce political and tribal leader El Glaoui. We continue along the route known as “the road of a thousand Kasbahs” and stop in Kalaat M’gouna, also known as “the city of roses,” where roses are grown for the area’s perfume distillery and are prized for their powerful aroma.
An annual rose harvest festival is held in May. The last leg of the journey takes us through even more breathtaking countryside to our

Day 2: Dades Valley – Todra Gorge – Merzouga

We will reach Merzouga early in the morning, crossing the gorge of Morocco’s highest oasis valley, the Todra Gorge. Your guide and camels will be waiting to transport you across the high sand dunes of the Moroccan Sahara once you reach the small town of Merzouga on the edge of the desert.
After two hours of walking on Aria camelback, you ride practically until sunset before reaching the camp, furnished with traditional Berber tents. A mint tea awaits you on arrival, and as the camels and luggage are settled, the night is filled with stars and Berber music.

Day 3 : Merzouga desert - Rissani - Alnif - Agdez

You will rise early in the morning to witness the sun rising over Erg Chebbi’s dunes, then have breakfast in the tent before riding a camel back to the starting point. Driving to Alnif and junction, we proceed west to Agdez from Rissani, a small Saharan hamlet in southeast Morocco, where we might stop to visit a fossil workshop. Spend the night in the hotel or riad.

Day 4 : Agdez - Ouarzazate - Tizi ntichka - Marrakech

Following breakfast, we travel to the intersection of the Draa Valley and drive north to Ouarzazate. After navigating the small volcanic Atlas Mountains, we reach the city of Ouarzazate, which serves as a hub for numerous African traders traveling to North Morocco. We keep traveling in the direction of Marrakech, passing via the col de Tizi nTichka and the High Atlas highlands. In the center of the towering Atlas Hills, having lunch. Our exclusive excursion to Morocco will come to an end when you drop us off at your Marrakech riad or hotel. Enjoy your journey back home.
