Itinerary: 3 Days private desert tour from Fes to Merzouga

Day 1: Fes - Ifrane - Cedar Forest ( Azrou ) - Midelt - Erfoud - Merzouga

Our driver will pick you up from your hotel in Fes early in the morning for your three-day excursion from Fes to the Merzouga Desert and you will head to southern Morocco, taking a short break to admire the beauty of Ifrane, nicknamed the “Little Switzerland” of Morocco, and take some unforgettable photos. Then it’s off to Azrou to visit monkeys in the cedar forest. We continue on and stop for lunch at a restaurant in the town of Midelt.
In the afternoon we cross the Tiz N’Talghamt pass to head to Errachidia, where we will see the Ziz gorges. Then a break to admire the vast panorama of the Ziz valley. Your driver will take you to Erfoud, famous for its fossils and dates, and to the dunes of Erg Chebbi, which run through Aoufous. In Erfoud you can visit a fossil workshop.
Then on to the fascinating dunes of Erg Chebbi, also known as the dunes of Merzouga. Arrive at the riad or hotel where you will have dinner and spend your first night.

Day 2: Tour around Merzouga Desert

We recommend getting up early on the last morning of our three-day desert tour, from Fes to Merzouga, to witness a breathtaking sunrise. Shower, then breakfast at camp. Afterwards, you’ll travel by camel or, if you prefer, by car to the village of Merzouga, where you’ll meet your driver-guide. We’ll then leave the Sahara desert behind and return to Fes, also known as the “spiritual city of Morocco”. We’ll make stops along the way to admire the breathtaking panoramic views, stop for lunch in Midelt and enjoy some free time. We leave it in your accommodation when you arrive in Fez in the evening, and at the end of our three-day tour, we head for the Merzouga desert.

Nomadic Berber family

After seeing an abandoned village where fossil minerals are produced, we’ll head off to the home of a nomadic Berber family to discover their way of life. We’ll return to Khamliya and have an excellent lunch in a nearby restaurant. The camel trekking adventure begins in the afternoon and takes you through the magnificent orange sand dunes of the desert camp. An amazing encounter where you can feed your spirit and take in the breathtaking sunset amidst the dunes. You can have fun in the sand dunes under a billion stars while dining and spending the evening in the camp with live music.

Day 3: Merzouga Desert - Errachidia - Midelt - Ifrane - Fes

We’ll start our journey around the sand dunes after breakfast. Erg-Chebbi. We’ll explore a plethora of incredible places in the Merzouga region, including the lake, which sometimes dries up in summer. Here you’ll be able to see a variety of bird species, including flamingos and ducks, which visit and reside here, particularly in spring. After a stop in the village of Khamliya to listen to African music (Gnawa) performed by black African musicians, we resume our off-road adventure towards the dark desert that lies behind the sand dunes Erg-Chebbi.
